The Family That Built
India's Tissue Industry.
Twice.
In 1977, Late Shri Pushkar Lal Birla supplied India's first online slitting toilet roll machine to Sehgal Paper Mills. Five years later, he invented India's first automatic paper napkin folding machine — recognised by the National Research Development Corporation and awarded the Bharat Ratna Vishvesvaraya Award in 1986, presented by the President of India.
Every tissue machine manufacturer in India today traces their technical roots back to those inventions.
In 1999, Ashwani Birla left to build something the industry hadn't seen yet. His father's machines were multisize — good for their time. Ashwani saw where the market was heading: faster, single-size machines, finished goods that could stand against European imports. He built them. The rest of the industry eventually caught up. By copying him.
Today, Aahan Birla leads exports across 22 countries, drives product development, and builds the digital infrastructure for the next generation of growth. The instinct that started in 1977 — to see what the market needs before it knows it needs it — runs through all three generations.

/ 03 · WHY BIRLA
Four Reasons. No Exceptions.
◆ Longest Warranty
18 months — the longest in India. Covers all mechanical and electrical components. Excludes rubber parts and consumables. Everything else is covered, no arguments.
◆ European Standard
Siemens servo drives, Siemens PLC and HMI, stress-relieved MS frames machined to sub-millimetre tolerances. Built the way European machines are built, priced the way Indian machines should be.
◆ Indian Pricing
2x our nearest Indian competitor on quality. Half the price of a European import. The only rational choice for a manufacturer who understands total cost of ownership.
◆ Three Generations
49 years of family manufacturing expertise. Thirteen India firsts. We have seen every market cycle, every technology shift, every customer need — and moved first, every time.

Mr. Ashwani Birla
Founder & Managing Director
Ashwani Birla grew up inside India's original tissue machine manufacturing unit — learning the industry from its inventor. In 1999, he saw what others didn't: the market needed faster, single-size machines with finished goods that could stand against European imports. Nothing on the market met that standard. So he built it himself. India's first straight-type automatic paper napkin folding machine. The industry spent the next two decades proving him right — by copying his designs. Today he oversees every machine that leaves the Faridabad factory, personally signing off on engineering decisions that have kept Birla Hi-Tech Machines ahead of every competitor for 25 years. Thirteen India firsts. Still counting.

Aahan Birla
Director — Exports, Product Development & Marketing
Third generation, but not a caretaker. He leads export strategy across 22 countries, drives engineering decisions on new machine development, and is rebuilding how Birla Hi-Tech Machines presents itself to the world. The family has been building India's firsts since 1977. His job is making sure the world knows it.
